01 What is steel construction?
Steel construction is a building method where the load-bearing system is made of steel sections (HEA, HEB, IPE, profiles, plates, etc.). Compared with reinforced concrete, it is faster, lighter, more recyclable and ideal for industrial buildings — factories, warehouses, hangars, energy facilities and large-span roof systems.
02 How is steel construction priced per square metre?
It depends on the steel tonnage per square metre, the structural system, span, height, surface protection (paint, galvanising) and erection conditions. As a rule of thumb, a single-storey industrial warehouse uses 25–55 kg of steel per m². For a precise quote we calculate from project drawings — please send us your project for evaluation.
03 How long does a steel warehouse erection take?
After production, a typical warehouse of 5,000–10,000 m² can be erected on site in 6–10 weeks. Including engineering, fabrication and surface protection, the total cycle is around 3–5 months. Tight schedules can be planned with shifts and parallel work fronts.
04 In which cities of Turkey do you operate?
We work across all of Turkey. We have completed projects in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Kocaeli, Tekirdağ, Adana, Mersin, Konya, Aksaray, Niğde, Manisa, Diyarbakır and Kütahya. Our head office is in Afyonkarahisar; our crews go where the project is.
05 Steel vs. reinforced concrete — what are the key differences?
Steel is faster on site (3–5× quicker), produces less waste, is easier to dismantle/relocate and can carry larger spans without intermediate columns. Reinforced concrete usually has lower base material cost but slower schedules. For industrial buildings with large spans and tight calendars, steel is almost always the answer.
06 Do you provide turnkey service?
Yes. From project static review and shop drawings, through procurement and fabrication, surface protection (paint or galvanising), transport and on-site erection, all the way to handover — everything is delivered under a single accountability.
07 Is the structure painted or galvanised?
Either is possible depending on environment and lifetime requirement. For corrosive environments (coastal, chemical, food), hot-dip galvanising is recommended. For dry interior environments, primer + top-coat painting is usually sufficient. The choice is made together based on the project's exposure category.
08 Is there a warranty on workmanship?
Yes — fabrication and erection workmanship are warrantied. Material warranty terms come from the steel mill. Coating warranties depend on the system used. We share documentation, certificates and welder qualifications transparently.
09 How do you protect site safety?
Erection always carries height-related risk. We work to a structured H&S plan: daily toolbox talks, permit-to-work, fall arrest, certified scaffolding and crane operators. Across nine years and 20,880 tons we have recorded zero major H&S incidents.
10 Do you also do shop drawings and static design?
We can produce shop drawings in-house and review static design. For full structural design we partner with licensed engineering offices when the client doesn't already have one.
11 What is the minimum tonnage you take on?
There is no formal minimum, but for projects below ~150 tons we usually evaluate on a case-by-case basis. The bigger fit is industrial projects of 500 tons and up.
12 How do I request a quote?
Use the form on the Contact page or email info@afcel.com.tr. The fastest evaluation comes when you share project location, expected tonnage, drawings (if any) and target start date.
